Thank you for your interest in Moksha studios!  Moksha Yoga was founded as a family of studios and we continue to function and work together as a tight knit community. We believe in what we teach, and for this reason we work to foster studios that are fun, accessible to all, and consistently great!

Moksha studios are independently owned and operated by individuals who have taken the 11 month Moksha Yoga Teachers Training. Every studio is guided by Moksha's 7 Pillars.

Since we are not a franchise or a corporate chain, you'll find that all Moksha studios are different and unique, reflecting the vibe of the local community and the vision of each Moksha studio director. And while all studios are unique, each shares a commitment to our green policy, our teaching excellence, and outstanding service to the community.

The main thing we are looking for in a Moksha Yoga studio director is a love of yoga. If you already have this you're off to a good start! Here are some other details that will help if you're looking to direct a hot and sweaty yoga community!

Prerequisites 
The majority owner of a Moksha Yoga studio must be a Moksha Yoga teacher with at least  200 hours  of teaching experience.

Basic Timeline for Opening a Studio

• Teach Moksha Yoga for 1 year either at a Moksha studio, in an affiliated studio, privately or other approved teaching locations/facilities.
• Submit application package (2-4 weeks to complete)
• Acceptance of application (4-6 weeks)
• Receive Operations Manual and begin following start-up procedures (ongoing)
• Looking for a location (1 month-1 year)
• Building/renovating location (2-4months)

Perks involved in Opening a Studio
Sounds like a lot of work? Well, we're not going say it's not! But the rewards associated with opening a studio and being involved in a community that is driven by a collective and evolving vision is extremely rewarding. Being a studio director is not a 9-5 job with weekends off. It is a profession that brings you home with a feeling of having contributed to something that is important. It is a job that involves connecting with people whose lives are being affected positively by your efforts.

Many studio owners equate owning their studio to having a child! This analogy is likely made because studio owners care deeply for their studio, and because a studio demands a lot of time and attention. And in return owning a studio provides a deep sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and offers infinite learning possibilities.

Operations Manual
Upon acceptance of a studio application package the future studio owner will receive a copy of the Moksha Yoga Studio Operations Manual. This manual is a step-by-step 'how to' program, that takes the studio owner from goal setting, through a brief course in entrepreneurship and a general picture of the role of a studio owner.

The Manual also includes information on negotiating a lease, instructions on finding a contractor and going through the construction process, construction supplies, and distributors with their contacts. Instructions on day to day operations including teacher and manager communication and salary, studio pricing, scheduling, book-keeping, database management, advertising ideas and recommendations and student interactions.

Retail information including contact information for products such as hot yoga clothing lines, mats, water bottles, environmental cleaning supplies are also included.

The operations manual also takes the studio owner through marketing ideas to foster a happy healthy hot yoga community. Start-up and ongoing marketing ideas are detailed.

An appendix of operations documents include - waiver of liability, sign-in sheet, book-keeping tracking documents, sample job descriptions to help with finding an appropriate manager, examples of signs placed around the studio to communicate with students, staff evaluation forms and more.

Consultation
After receiving the Operations Manual every studio owner takes part in consulting with one of the Moksha Yoga directors. Most consultations involve a future studio owner arriving, or calling, with a long list of questions to be answered by the Moksha director. Consultations are scheduled by the studio owner and can also involve either Jess or Ted reviewing studio location ideas, renovation plans, or providing advice in areas in which the studio director feels advice is needed.

Complete the Application Package
